چکیده

Atmospheric carbon sequestration in terrestrial ecosystems has become a significant challenge the global framework of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The main objective this study is to provide estimation organic stocks agricultural soils Sidi Bel Abbes plain at various depths and according different land use, namely cereals, olives and, viticulture. We have chosen two toposequences types that dominate, Chromic Cambisols Calcareous Cambisols. Organic was determined by modified method Walkley Black. The Effect of Land use and Soil Erosion on Soil Organic Carbon and Nitrogen Stock

Soil organic carbon (SOC) is a principal component in soil quality assessment. Knowledge of SOC and total nitrogen (TN) stocks are important keys to understand the role of SOC in the global carbon cycle and, as a result, in the mitigation of global greenhouse effects. SOC and TN stocks are functions of the SOC concentration and the bulk density of the soil that are prone to changes, influe...

Soil Organic Carbon Content and Stocks in Relation to Grazing Management in Semi-Arid Grasslands of Kenya

Rangelands cover approximately 85% of Kenya’s land mass and is a major resource for livestock farming with a considerable potential to mitigate climate change, yet these lands are stressed differently by various management. Our study aimed at determining the influence of grazing management systems (rotational, continuous and ungrazed) on soil organic carbon stocks in Yoani ranch located in the ...

A GIS-based integrative approach for land use optimization in a semi-arid watershed

The proper use of natural resources can preserve these valuable assets. In line with the management of natural resources, land use optimization can be highly useful. The aim of the present study is to propose an appropriate integrative model for optimized allocation of lands for surface runoff and sediment load minimization and net income maximization in Bayg watershed, Iran. In this study, fiv...

Land use effects on soil organic matter properties of chromic luvisols in semi-arid northern Tanzania: carbon, nitrogen, lignin and carbohydrates

In the semi-arid part of northern Tanzania, the native tropical woodland is undergoing a rapid conversion into agricultural land. This has resulted in drastic ecological changes in the region. This study was undertaken to investigate the effects of these changes in land use systems on the amount and composition of SOM in bulk soil samples and size separates. Samples were collected from the uppe...
